Physics Questions - Energy and Simple Machines?

We Answered:

1. What is work = change in energy? , makes no sense. Work is energy, change in energy with time is power.

2. What is the object of a machines force? This is a simple machine so the object of it's force is to move something.

3. What is .... potential?

4. lever

5 chemical ==> kinetic energy?

6 What is .... same as 5?

7 something where you pull the free end a yard for every foot that the load moves. I would guess 4 segments but I really don't know what they mean by the moving rope segments, there's just one continuous rope so they dont mean that. The rope itself is made of loads of segments twisted together and has nothing to do with mechanical advantage so they don't mean that. If they mean the bits between the load and the pulley + the bit that is running to whatever is doing the pulling then 4 , if you don't count the bit that is tied to one or other of the pulleys, could be three.

can someone please list the simple machines and some exapmles... i'm stuck?

We Answered:

1.Three classes of Levers-Pliers,Wrench,Crowbar,etc
2.Inclined Plane-Ramp,Car Jacks,Wedge,Chesel
3.Screws-It is also a kind of inclined plane
4.Pullys
5.Gears-Used to transmit the motion,Also motion can increased or decreasd.

Simple Machine Word Problems, help?

We Answered:

200 x 1.5 = 30 x D

D=1.5 x 200/30=10 inches
The mechanical advantage of the system is that you have to apply a force of 30 lb againsta resistance of 200 lb.

Simple machines and compund machine HMWK worksheet!!!?

We Answered:

You can do your own HW. If you get stuck on a question, then you can ask for help.

Cecil Said:

A simple machine is one that always gives a mechanical advantage of 2. True or False?

We Answered:

I would say FALSE.

(Generally any question that says ALWAYS or NEVER is somewhat suspect if there is the possibility of other answers).

Levers, Pulleys, Screws, and other simple machines are capable of being a force multiplier. They certainly can increase force by more than 2. Levers, for example can change the mechanical advatage by simply changing the relative lengths of the levers and position of the fulcrum. In fact, some arrangemets of fulcrum and lever actually would decrease the mechanical advantage to make the work more difficult.
