Worksheet For Preschool
Leon Said:
Software question, I would like to create my own worksheet pages for my preschool children. any suggestions? We Answered:
What programs have you got? Both Word and Excel will manage if you have Office. If you have to buy fresh, Alpha Five version 8 is <$100, very powerful, and a whole lot easier to use than Access.

Where can i find a great website for preschool worksheets? But impressive fun ones?We Answered:
Are there "great" preschool worksheets? I don't encourage the use of worksheets at the preschool level. It's better to use other hands-on approaches. Many "worksheets" for preschool are printing worksheets and you can google that and find hoards for the alphabet and numbers...but often a 3 or 4 year old really do not have the fine motor skills to enjoy writing a letter over and over and over. Instead...build letters with objects (sticks and curves), write in sand, make the letters with playdough, provide large areas for "free writing" (washable markers on a sliding glass door or window is wonderful!). Give them something concrete to work and they'll better learn the concepts. They'll get more than enough worksheets in Kindergarten and 1st grade. On occaision there are children who definitely enjoy worksheets. For these children I find that taking apart a work book and putting the pages into sheet protectors and into a binder is very cost effective as you can use dry erase marker and erase and do again another day. Another good book that children in my care haven't tired from is the Kumon Writing. Very colorful pages and the progression is exceptional! You can check it out at Target, Barnes and Noble, etc.

Good preschool worksheet websites?We Answered:
www.starfall.comThis is a great website for learning letter recognition, letter sounds, and even letter writing (good for the 4 year old). You can do it online or print off worksheets. It also has some work with numbers. My 4 year old loves this website. Have Fun!!

Online resource for addition/subtraction worksheets-Preschool/K?We Answered:
Addition and subtraction are not preschool nor kindergarten skills and definitely not with worksheets.Children at this age need to work on number sense first. They need to count a set of objects using one-to-one correspondence, count out a specified amount from a larger group of objects, identify the larger or small or two sets of objects. They need to learn how to sort by one and two attributes , i.e. color and shape, color and size, etc. as well as learn how to recognize and complete a pattern/sequence.
Using concrete items can introduce the vocabulary of addition and subtraction,"more" or "less"

preschool worksheets---for numbers--colors--shapes?We Answered:
I used this website:www.abcteach.com
www.nickjr.com
I for one think if the child doesn't like preschool its good that you had him stop going. It seems like our kids spend so much time in school as it is. Let him have fun at home.
Another place for preschool activities is NickJr. They have things you can print off and do with your kids.
You can also print out words for items around the house and stick them the items and help him learn to recognize the words.
If you want to teach him the alphabet and numbers use flash cards or index cards. You can count the number of green things in the room, the number of steps it takes to go up the stairs, etc.
I found that just talking with the kids and making games out of learning helped so much.
Have fun, they grow up so fast!
