If you are planning on doing this as a self taught thing then maybe you should look into computer curriculum like SOS. It is a boxed set and everything is there. It assigns, grades, and keeps a running cumulative grade for you; it even prints report cards. If not then it looks thorough. Have you looked into "the mystery of history" or even "drive thru history" for you history curriculum and most 8th graders I know are doing Pre-Alg.

Keep in mind that the law says you have to have all these different subjects; however, no where does the law say you have to have the same exact courses that you would have taken in the public schools. Choices are one of the nice parts of homeschooling.

Hi,I'm the mom of two autistic kids and I feel your pain!My best advice is to find out your rights.If your child has an IEP then you should have been given a copy of the rights you and your child are entitled to.If you didn't get this go to the school board and get a copy.They can hold an IEP meeting without you but they have to give you the option to attend and it has to be in writing.Your child is definately being cheated by the system.Now is not the time to be nice and polite and make happy little requests.You need to go to your school board and make some demands.No one is going to be a better advocate for your child than you and right now she is being denied her basic right to an appropriate education.Unfortunately in this world it is the squeaky wheel that gets the oil and it sounds like this will continue to happen unless you do something about it.They think a communication notebook is too much trouble???This is ridiculous!You should not have to pay for a private school when it is your taxes paying the salaries of all these teachers and school board members.Get educated about your rights and be the squeaky wheel!
